SLU-PP-332 — EU research guide.
SLU-PP-332 is a synthetic ERR (Estrogen-Related Receptor) alpha/gamma agonist that activates the same transcriptional programme as endurance exercise. It is studied as an exercise mimetic in metabolic and muscle biology research.
What is SLU-PP-332?
SLU-PP-332 activates ERRα and ERRγ, nuclear receptors that coordinate the transcriptional response to endurance exercise — upregulating mitochondrial biogenesis, fatty acid oxidation, and slow-twitch muscle fibre programming via PGC-1α co-activation. It was developed by Thomas Burris and colleagues at University of Florida.
What does the research show?
In mouse studies, SLU-PP-332-treated animals showed improved running endurance (~70% increase in time to exhaustion), increased mitochondrial density in muscle, and reduced fat accumulation. The effect profile is complementary to AICAR (AMPK activation) but works through a distinct nuclear receptor pathway. No human data exists as of mid-2026.
