Mazdutide — EU research guide.
Mazdutide (IBI362) is a dual GLP-1 receptor and glucagon receptor agonist under clinical development by Innovent Biologics, showing strong weight-loss and metabolic data in Phase 3 trials.
What is Mazdutide?
Mazdutide is a once-weekly injectable dual agonist that simultaneously activates GLP-1R (for satiety and insulin secretion) and GCGR (for energy expenditure and hepatic fat reduction). Developed primarily in China, it is in late-stage clinical trials and not yet approved by EMA or FDA.
What does the research show?
Phase 3 data in Chinese populations showed ~15% body weight reduction at 48 weeks with 9mg weekly dosing, alongside significant improvements in glycaemic markers. The GCGR component adds thermogenic and hepatoprotective activity not seen with GLP-1-only agonists. As of mid-2026 no EU or US approval exists.
EU legal status
Mazdutide is not approved in the EU. It is available from research vendors as a laboratory compound. No clinical use is sanctioned outside of authorized trials.
